2Face Breaks Silence on Divorce, Says He Only Owes His Children an Explanation

Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Face, has addressed the public reaction to his separation from wife and actress Annie Macaulay-Idibia, stating that he owes no one an explanation except his children.

In a recent interview on the 234 Mzansi Podcast, the Afrobeats star said his decision to speak up was not to clarify rumours but to affirm that his children remain his only priority in the wake of the split.

“My kids are the only people I owe an explanation,” he said, referencing the backlash that followed his public announcement of the separation earlier this year.

2Face officially confirmed the end of his marriage to Annie on January 26, 2025, via a post on Instagram. The news sparked a wave of commentary online, which intensified when he was later seen in public with Natasha Osawuru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, who has since been identified as his new partner.

Speaking on the reasons behind the separation, the legendary singer said the marriage had simply reached a breaking point. “It wasn’t working anymore,” he admitted. He described Annie as an “amazing person” and reflected on their years together as a “good run,” adding that both of them had tried their best to make the marriage work.

2Face and Annie were married in May 2012 and share two daughters, Isabella and Olivia. Despite years of ups and downs that often played out in the public eye, the couple remained one of Nigeria’s most admired celebrity unions – until their recent split.

While the singer has moved forward with a new relationship, he maintains that his children’s understanding and well-being remain his central concern, regardless of public opinion.
