50 Cent Threatens Suntory Global Spirits with Congressional Action Amid $6 Million Lawsuit
50 Cent has escalated his dispute with Suntory Global Spirits, hinting at potential congressional involvement over a $6 million lawsuit related to his alcohol brands.
On Friday (May 17), the rapper and entrepreneur took to Instagram to condemn the company, formerly known as Beam Suntory, for rebranding without addressing alleged wrongdoings against him and his Sire Spirits brands.
“Changing the company name from Beam Suntory to @SuntoryGlobalSpirits without correcting what was done to my brands @bransoncognac and @lecheminduroi doesn’t fix the problem and lacks honour,” he stated. “I attempted to resolve the matter, not once, but twice. Now the legal process will play out publicly for everyone to see what really happened and how @SuntoryGlobalSpirits would rather spend millions to protect and conceal criminal conduct instead of doing the right thing.”
50 Cent suggested that his status as one of the few Black-owned brands might be influencing the situation, questioning if this was a factor in the ongoing conflict. He hinted at seeking intervention from the Congressional Black Caucus to scrutinize the matter further.
The legal battle stems from last year when 50 Cent and Sire Spirits entered mediation with Beam Suntory, accusing the company’s agents of an embezzlement scheme involving millions in unpaid invoices.
The rapper renewed his criticism of the company on March 11 through a series of Instagram posts, insisting that Beam Suntory will be held accountable. “@beamsuntory is gonna pay for what they did, trust me,” he wrote. “These big companies think they can get away with anything. It has cost me millions in legal fees. They are gonna find out I’m not the one you want to play with.”
In his posts, he included footage of a TV news report on his legal struggle and shared an alleged letter from Beam Suntory dated August 15, 2016, related to the embezzlement issue. He criticized the company’s actions and hinted at producing a TV series about the scandal, suggesting it would make an engaging unscripted project.
As the legal process unfolds, 50 Cent remains adamant about seeking justice and exposing the alleged misconduct publicly.
