Wale Says He Accommodated Wizkid Early in His Career

Nigerian-American rapper Wale has spoken about his long-standing relationship with Afrobeats star Wizkid, claiming he played a key role in supporting the singer’s early international exposure.

During a recent livestream conversation with comedian Carter Efe, Wale said he has been closely following Nigerian music for years and has built personal relationships with several artists, including Wizkid, whom he described as a close friend.

According to Wale, his connection with Wizkid dates back nearly a decade. He disclosed that he introduced the singer to major international platforms and even hosted him in the United States during a formative period in his career.

“I’ve been following Nigerian music for a long time. There are many artists I enjoy listening to, even if I don’t know all of them personally,” Wale said. “But there are some I know well, like Wizkid. We’ve been cool for almost 10 years.”

The rapper revealed that he took Wizkid to his first BET Awards appearance and accommodated him in Beverly Hills, California, for an extended period while they worked on music together.

“That’s my boy. He stayed with me in Beverly Hills for a whole summer. We were just writing music and made a lot of songs together, including ‘Drop for Me,'” he added.

Wale’s comments have sparked renewed conversations online about the early collaborations and relationships that helped shape Wizkid’s rise onto the global music stage.
