Nasboi Criticises Carter Efe Over ‘Skit Making Is Dead’ Claim

Nigerian content creator Nasiru Lawal, popularly known as Nasboi, has criticised fellow entertainer Carter Efe over comments suggesting that skit making is no longer thriving.

Carter Efe recently sparked debate after stating during an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast that the skit-making industry was “dead.” The comedian, who has transitioned into live streaming, said he became depressed at a point because he believed the skit-making space was fading before he shifted focus to streaming.

Responding in an interview on Naija FM, Nasboi disagreed with the claim and argued that it was wrong to downplay the industry that helped launch Carter Efe’s career.

According to him, evolving professionally is understandable, but dismissing the creative sector that first brought an entertainer into the spotlight is unfair.

“Evolving is not a bad idea, but talking down on the industry that made you is a crime in my books,” Nasboi said.

He added that although he maintains a friendly relationship with Carter Efe, he believes the comments were unnecessary.

“Carter Efe is my friend; we speak often, but he can be a loose talker,” he said.

Nasboi further insisted that the skit-making industry continues to thrive, pointing out that many creators are still gaining popularity through short comedy videos online.

“You can’t say skit making is dead,” he said. “People are blowing up every day with skits. The fact that some creators evolve into other areas doesn’t mean the industry they came from has died.”
