Qing Madi Accuses Former Record Label Boss of Forgery and Financial Misconduct

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Qing Madi has publicly accused her former record label executive, Joy Tongo, of forging her signature and misappropriating funds, escalating an ongoing dispute between the artist and her former management.

Speaking during a recent TikTok livestream, Qing Madi alleged that her former label has been attempting to undermine her career following a legal battle involving a reported $2 million lawsuit. According to the singer, the conflict has also resulted in the removal of several tracks from her latest album, Barely Legal, from streaming platforms.

The artist claimed that after successfully challenging previous actions taken against her music, additional efforts were made to have her songs removed again. She further alleged that her former label engaged in misconduct during their business relationship, including unauthorized use of her signature and financial wrongdoing.

Qing Madi expressed frustration over the prolonged dispute, describing the situation as exhausting and calling on supporters to speak out against what she believes is unfair treatment.

In response, Joy Tongo rejected the allegations, describing them as false. The JTon Music chief denied any involvement in forgery or financial misconduct and disputed Qing Madi’s assertion that the legal matter had been resolved in her favour.

Tongo stated that the case remains active and has not yet proceeded to trial. She also maintained that an existing court injunction provides the legal basis for the label’s actions regarding the takedown of the singer’s music from digital platforms.

The disagreement highlights the continuing tensions between the two parties, with both sides offering sharply different accounts of the ongoing legal and contractual dispute. As of now, the matter remains unresolved and subject to judicial determination.
