Angelique Kidjo to Become First African Artist Honoured on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Beninese music icon Angelique Kidjo is set to make history as the first African artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Grammy-winning singer was named among the 2026 inductees by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, placing her alongside a diverse group of global stars from film, music, and sports.

Kidjo’s recognition marks a major milestone not just for her career but for African music on the international stage.

Other notable honorees in the 2026 class include American pop sensation Miley Cyrus, actor Timothée Chalamet, basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal, Broadway and Disney favourite Lea Salonga, Indian film star Deepika Padukone, British actress Emily Blunt, French star Marion Cotillard, and Canadian actress Rachel McAdams.

While the exact dates for the induction ceremonies have yet to be confirmed, all recipients have up to two years to schedule their star unveilings.
