Flutterwave backs Tiwa Savage Music Foundation

Flutterwave Partners Tiwa Savage Music Foundation to Support Emerging African Talent

African payments technology company Flutterwave has announced a strategic partnership with the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation aimed at supporting and developing creative talent across the continent. The collaboration was unveiled during the foundation’s official launch event held on March 9, 2025, at The Delborough Lagos, where prominent figures from Nigeria’s entertainment, business and political sectors gathered to mark the occasion.

The foundation, established by Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage, seeks to provide emerging African creatives with access to training, mentorship and industry opportunities within the music sector. Its programmes are designed not only for performers but also for professionals working behind the scenes, including producers, sound engineers, composers and music business specialists, reflecting a broader effort to strengthen the entire creative ecosystem.

The launch event attracted several notable personalities from government, entertainment and business circles. Among them was Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos State, who delivered closing remarks at the ceremony. Other attendees included Layal Tinubu, co-founder of the Noella Foundation; Stanley Uzochukwu, chairman of The Delborough Lagos; veteran politician Florence Ita Giwa; media entrepreneur Mo Abudu; music executive Don Jazzy and Tega Oghenejobo of Mavin Records, as well as representatives of the United States Consulate General Lagos.

Speaking at the event, Flutterwave founder and chief executive Olugbenga Agboola said the partnership reflects a shared ambition to expand opportunities for African creators globally. He noted that the company’s mission of connecting Africa to the world aligns closely with the foundation’s goal of helping African music talent reach international audiences.

As part of the collaboration, Flutterwave has also made a financial contribution to support the foundation’s programmes and long-term goals, reinforcing its commitment to investing in Africa’s creative sector beyond its core payments infrastructure.

The launch also featured participation from Berklee College of Music, one of the world’s leading music institutions. Its involvement signals the foundation’s plans to create pathways for African artists to access global music education and industry networks, including potential scholarships to study at Berklee’s campus in Boston and the longer-term ambition of establishing a permanent music school in Nigeria.

Tiwa Savage expressed appreciation for the support the initiative has received, noting that while Africa has long been rich in musical talent, many creators still lack the infrastructure, access and institutional backing needed to thrive globally. She said partnerships like the one with Flutterwave will help bridge those gaps by providing resources and opportunities for the next generation of artists and music professionals.

The launch of the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation signals the beginning of a broader effort to strengthen Africa’s creative economy, highlighting how collaboration between private companies and cultural leaders can help nurture talent and expand the continent’s global cultural influence.
