T-Pain Promotes Mental Health-Themed Track ‘On This Hill’ with Free Therapy Sessions for Fans
T-Pain is leveraging the release of his new mental health-themed track, “On This Hill,” to support his fans’ well-being in a meaningful way.
In conjunction with the song’s debut on Friday (May 17) in honour of Mental Health Awareness Month, the rapper has partnered with online and mobile therapy provider Talkspace to offer free therapy sessions to several of his fans for the next year.
“This song is really about refusing to be gaslit anymore,” T-Pain explained in a statement. “It’s about coming to a realization that I have to stand up for myself. Over the years, that has just been something I’ve had to open my eyes to and learn how to deal with it. So yeah, I’ll die on this hill, ha!”
Earlier in May, T-Pain announced plans to establish an educational institution in Wisconsin, fulfilling a promise made to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in 2023. The school, which will focus on music education, draws inspiration from his 2008 hit “Can’t Believe It,” where he famously rhymed “mansion” with “Wiscansin.”
“I just really felt like I was Andre 3000 when I was recording that song,” T-Pain told Billboard. “That was my spirit animal that I had on me while I was recording that song.”
He added, “All my tours now are Wisconsin-based. We have a ‘Wiscansin University.’ All the merch is ‘Wiscansin’-based. We’re actually starting a music school in Wisconsin.”
The rapper also praised Lil Wayne, describing their collaboration as “awesome.”
Wisconsin has shown appreciation for T-Pain’s efforts. In 2022, during his Road To Wiscansin Tour, he was honored by the state. Instead of a solo concert, T-Pain hosted Wiscansin Fest, featuring artists like Lil Jon, Juvenile, Yung Bleu, K Camp, O.T. Genasis, and more.
