Reekado Banks Warns of Music Executive Allegedly Exploiting Young Artists
Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has sounded an alarm over what he describes as a troubling pattern of exploitation by a well-known figure in the country’s music industry.
In a recent interview, the Ozumba Mbadiwe hitmaker claimed that an influential music executive – whose name he declined to mention – has been taking advantage of emerging talents. He said the individual has consistently left a trail of setbacks in the careers of those who have worked with him, including himself.
“There’s one big man in the music industry who is demonic and takes advantage of young talents,” Reekado said. “I’ve worked with him before. Other young artists have too. I’m not going to mention his name or drag him, but he knows himself.”
He explained that his intention isn’t to start a public feud but to educate rising artists about potential dangers in the industry. According to him, those who have worked with the executive often end up facing mysterious career challenges.
Following the interview, social media users have been divided, with some urging Reekado to name the individual and others questioning the motive behind the warning.
“If you won’t say the name, why say anything at all?” one user wrote.
While speculation swirled online, some fans attempted to guess the person in question, though many pointed out that Reekado had recently praised Don Jazzy and the Mavin Records team – ruling them out in the eyes of some observers.
As the conversation continues, Reekado Banks’ remarks have reignited discussions around transparency and accountability in the Nigerian music scene, particularly regarding how young artists are treated behind the scenes.
