Red Dead Redemption Set for Release on PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2, With Mobile Version Backed by Netflix

Rockstar Games’ Western blockbuster Red Dead Redemption appears to be heading to a new generation of consoles, after fresh ratings surfaced from the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles and Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2.

While Rockstar has yet to make an official announcement, the new listings strongly suggest that an updated release is on the way.

The original Red Dead Redemption, launched in 2010 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, has steadily expanded to additional platforms over the years – including PS4 and Nintendo Switch in 2023 and PC in late 2024. A mobile version for iOS and Android, published through Netflix Games, is scheduled to arrive on December 4, 2025 at no extra cost for Netflix subscribers.

It is still unclear whether the forthcoming versions for PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2 will be a full remaster or simply enhanced ports. Given the game’s age and continued popularity, many fans are hoping for improved graphics and performance tailored to modern hardware.

The renewed interest comes as Rockstar continues to face pressure from players, following the developer’s decision to delay Grand Theft Auto VI for the second time – shifting its expected release from May 2026 to November 19, 2026.

According to the ESRB, the updated Red Dead Redemption release has been rated M for its mature themes, including violence, gore, nudity, sexual content, drug use and strong language. The listing also references a “zombie plague,” indicating that the fan-favourite Undead Nightmare expansion will likely be part of the package.
