Samsung Brings AirDrop Compatibility to Galaxy S26 Series

Samsung has announced that its new Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup – including the S26+, and S26 Ultra – will support file sharing with Apple devices through an upgraded version of Quick Share.

The new feature enables seamless transfers between Galaxy devices and Apple products such as AirDrop on iPhones, iPads and Macs, eliminating the need for third-party apps or cloud-based workarounds.

The rollout has already begun in South Korea, with expansion to the United States expected within days, followed by other regions including Europe, Latin America and parts of Asia.

The move follows similar steps by Google, which recently introduced cross-platform sharing capabilities on its Pixel devices. The development is partly driven by new regulatory requirements in the European Union, which push for greater interoperability between competing platforms.

Samsung’s adoption marks a significant milestone, making it the largest smartphone manufacturer to embrace cross-platform file sharing with Apple devices. Other companies, including Qualcomm and Nothing, have also signalled support for similar functionality.

However, the feature will not be enabled by default. Users will need to manually activate it within their device settings, and both sending and receiving devices must be set to a discoverable mode for transfers to work.

For now, the functionality is limited to the Galaxy S26 series, though Samsung says it plans to extend support to additional Galaxy devices in the future.

The update is expected to significantly ease file sharing across mixed-device environments, addressing a long-standing challenge for users who operate across both Android and Apple ecosystems.
