“I Won’t Be Used As Clickbait” – Ireti Doyle Opens Up On Divorce
Veteran Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle has finally addressed her divorce from her ex-husband, Patrick Doyle, offering rare insight into a chapter of her life she has deliberately kept private.
Years after confirming the end of their marriage in January 2023, the actress chose to speak on the subject during a recent interview with Morayo Brown. Until now, she had refrained from sharing details, despite widespread public curiosity and media attention.
Reflecting on the experience, Doyle acknowledged that the end of her marriage was deeply painful but maintained that her silence over the years was intentional. According to her, certain aspects of life – especially personal relationships – do not belong in the public domain.
She emphasised that the only people she owes any form of explanation to are those who were present at the beginning of the union – close family and friends. For everyone else, she drew a clear line, rejecting the pressure to publicly dissect her private life.
Doyle was particularly firm about her stance against sensationalism, stressing that she would never allow her personal experiences to be turned into media bait.
In her words, marriage is a journey that begins with celebration but can sometimes end when circumstances change. And while such endings are often painful, she believes they should be handled with dignity – not exploited for headlines.
Her comments highlight a broader conversation around privacy, especially for public figures navigating deeply personal transitions under constant public scrutiny.
