Bovi Explains Why He Sees Divorce as a Positive Outcome in Some Marriages

Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi Ugboma has shared his views on divorce, saying he often sees the end of a troubled marriage as a positive development for those involved.

Speaking during a recent episode of The Moraya Show, Bovi said he believes that many divorces signal the end of a difficult situation for one or both partners.

“I celebrate when people get divorced because I feel it means one or both people were not breathing well in the marriage. I will not suffer anybody neither will I want anybody to suffer me,” he said.

The comedian explained that while marriage can be rewarding, remaining in a toxic relationship should not be viewed as preferable to separation. According to him, personal well-being and peace of mind are important considerations when evaluating the health of a marriage.

Bovi, however, clarified that his support for divorce in unhealthy situations does not mean he views marriage as easy. Reflecting on his own experience, he noted that maintaining a long-term relationship comes with its own challenges and responsibilities.

“That is not to say my marriage has been easy for 17 years. It has not. I got married at 29. I have been providing for 17 years nonstop,” he added.

His comments have sparked conversations about marriage, divorce, and the societal expectations surrounding relationships, particularly in cultures where divorce is often viewed negatively regardless of the circumstances.
