Akida Hills to Develop Landmark Leisure and Tourism Destination at Abuja’s Jabi Lake Waterfront

Akida Hills has unveiled plans to transform part of Abuja’s Jabi Lake waterfront into a major leisure and tourism destination, with the first phase of the project expected to open in December 2026.

The mixed-use development will feature what the company describes as West Africa’s first dancing musical fountain, alongside a range of recreational, entertainment and lifestyle attractions aimed at enhancing the capital city’s tourism appeal.

The project forms part of the broader redevelopment of the Jabi Lake waterfront into a premier destination for leisure, tourism and public recreation. Akida Hills has been allocated a 3.36-hectare site within the approximately 14-hectare waterfront district, where it will develop the project in phases.

Founder of Akida Hills, Kayode Bamisile, said the company intends to create a destination capable of attracting residents, visitors and tourists throughout the year while supporting economic growth and employment.

According to him, the vision is to establish Jabi Lake as one of Africa’s leading waterfront destinations through destination-focused development that reshapes how people experience the city.

The first phase, scheduled for completion in December 2026, will introduce several attractions, including restaurants, leisure facilities, water-based activities, regular entertainment programmes, a seasonal lights festival and the project’s signature dancing musical fountain.

The fountain will combine choreographed water displays with synchronised lighting and music to create a central evening attraction for visitors.

Akida Hills said additional attractions and amenities will be introduced in later phases as the development expands.

When completed, the waterfront project is expected to serve as a hub for tourism, recreation, entertainment and community activities, further strengthening Abuja’s position as a leading lifestyle and leisure destination.

The company said construction will progress in phases, with further announcements on attractions, programmes and commercial partnerships expected ahead of the December 2026 opening.

Akida Hills is an Abuja-based real estate and mixed-use developer with projects spanning residential, hospitality and lifestyle developments. The company said it aims to create destinations that combine leisure, culture and community while promoting sustainable long-term development.
