A$AP Rocky Calls New Album His ‘Best Work Yet’

A$AP Rocky is diligently working on his upcoming album, “Don’t Be Dumb,” and he’s raising the excitement level to new heights as he believes it will be his best work to date. The rapper, who serves as the face of the Gucci Guilty fragrance, recently shared his insights on the experimental project during an interview with DAZED.

“I’ve been really experimenting as usual, and what I like about this is it feels like my best work yet,” Rocky stated, referring to the follow-up to his previous album, “TESTING.” He emphasized his desire to keep expectations open and not dictate what listeners should anticipate. “I want to leave expectations wide and open. I don’t want to tell you what to expect. I just want people to experience it how they do naturally.”

Although the release date for “Don’t Be Dumb” remains unspecified as we enter the fourth quarter of 2023, Rocky has already treated fans to some tastes of the album. His last single, “Riot (Rowdy Pipe’n),” dropped in July. He also showcased unreleased tracks during a performance at 2 Chainz’s Amazon Music Live concert series in December, including “Same Problems,” featuring Miguel and Thundercat.

During a performance at Rolling Loud Miami in July, A$AP Rocky performed several songs from the upcoming album. One of these tracks, titled “Taylor Swift,” appeared to take aim at an unnamed rival. In the song, Rocky brags about taking someone’s “bitch” in retaliation for copying his style.

“First you stole my flow, so I stole your bitch/ Then you stole my style, I need at least like 10 percent/ All due disrespect, I hope you take offense,” he raps.

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna welcomed their second child, Riot Rose, in August. The couple shared heartwarming family photos, featuring their newborn alongside their older son, RZA, in a recent photo shoot.

Additionally, A$AP Rocky and the A$AP Mob received praise from Black Thought for their contributions to the New York hip-hop scene. Black Thought credited Rocky’s 2013 debut project as a catalyst for a new era of NYC hip-hop, describing it as “braggadocious” and “genre-transcendent.” He highlighted Rocky’s ability to blend the New York hip-hop aesthetic with other emerging styles, bridging the gap between different subgenres.

Rocky’s impact on New York hip-hop, according to Black Thought, encouraged local artists to explore new creative perspectives and expand their horizons, marking the beginning of a transformative era in the city’s Hip Hop scene.
