Adekunle Gold Says He Can Fail in Music, But Never as a Husband or Father
Nigerian music star Adekunle Gold has opened up about his family values, saying his wife, Simi, and their daughter, Adejare, remain the most important part of his life.
Speaking on the NotJustOk podcast, the “Orente” crooner revealed that while he’s willing to face setbacks in his music career, he would never allow himself to fail as a husband or father.
“My family is my centre. I don’t joke with my family,” Adekunle said. “I can afford to be a failed musician, not a failed father or a man. That’s not negotiable for me.”
He explained that one of his biggest motivations is to give his daughter a better life than the one he had growing up. His song “My Love Is The Same”, he noted, was inspired by that commitment.
“All I want is to do more for my daughter because I can’t afford to bring her into the kind of life I grew up living. It has to be way better, and that’s why I’m working hard,” he said.
Adekunle Gold, known for hits like “High” and “Something Different,” has often credited his wife, singer Simi, as a major influence in both his personal and artistic growth.
