Anne Heche Deemed ‘Brain Dead’ After Car Crash

Following the catastrophic brain injury she sustained in the automobile accident she was recently involved in, American Emmy-winning actress, Anne Heche has been declared brain dead and currently remains on life support

According to a statement released by a representative on behalf of the family, the accident has had a devastating effect on her life as well as the impact on her family, friends and loved ones.

“Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition,” said a representative in a statement on behalf of Anne Heche and her family. “She is not expected to survive.”

“It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she’s being kept on life support to determine if any are viable.”

The statement continues by expressing gratitude for the support and assistance provided to Heche, 53, in the wake of the tragic car accident on August 5.

“We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne’s recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital,” the statement continues.

“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work – especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.”

The actress lost consciousness six days after colliding with a house in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Mar Vista. Heche was intubated and in critical condition after the fiery collision, which also destroyed a house.

“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” claimed a representative on August 8. “She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”

Many of Heche’s supporters and those who knew her flooded social media as soon as word of the accident spread.

The actor James Tupper, Heche’s longtime partner until their separation in January 2018, also sent his love. He captioned a picture of Heche and their shared 13-year-old son Atlas on Instagram with “Thoughts and prayers for this lovely woman, actress and mother tonight Anne Heche. We adore you.”

Heart still beating

Heche has no brain function at all, though her heart is still beating thanks to life support which is keeping her alive for long enough so her organs can be harvested for donation.
