Aubrey O’Day Criticizes Diddy’s Apology for Cassie Assault After Initial Denial

Diddy has come under intense scrutiny after a video showing him assaulting Cassie surfaced online, with Aubrey O’Day being one of the latest to call out the mogul’s recent apology as insincere.

On Sunday, May 19, Aubrey O’Day took to social media to highlight the inconsistency in Diddy’s response to the incident. While Diddy recently acknowledged his violent behaviour, O’Day pointed out that he had previously denied the incident entirely.

A few months ago, Diddy released a statement denying all allegations: “I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”

O’Day shared an image of this denial, criticizing Diddy for what she saw as a lack of genuine remorse. “Diddy did not apologize to Cassie. He apologized to the world for seeing what he did. He says he’s ‘disgusted w himself now, and he was disgusted w himself then’.. but apparently he wasn’t disgusted enough w himself to not PIN this statement out calling her a liar & denying all of it.. leave god and mercy out of this, they aren’t present here, and you know it,” she wrote.

Cassie, Diddy’s ex-partner, filed a lawsuit against him last year, accusing him of rape, sex trafficking, physical abuse, and other forms of misconduct. Despite settling the case out of court, Diddy initially denied all allegations. The recently surfaced footage from 2016, obtained by CNN, corroborates Cassie’s claims. It shows Diddy assaulting Cassie in a hotel, kicking her repeatedly and grabbing her personal items.

Following the release of the video, Diddy posted a new statement on social media, taking full responsibility for his actions. “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was fucked up — I mean, I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behaviour on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now. I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”

Despite this apology, critics like O’Day remain sceptical, citing Diddy’s previous denials and questioning the sincerity of his remorse.
