Bolt Reminds Customers on Approved Items for Bolt Send Deliveries

Ride-hailing and delivery platform Bolt has reminded customers to follow the guidelines governing its Bolt Send service, stressing the importance of responsible usage to ensure safe and efficient package deliveries.

The company said the advisory comes as more Nigerians increasingly rely on on-demand delivery services for both personal and business-related shipments.

According to Bolt, the service is intended for the delivery of everyday items such as documents, clothing, small gifts, personal belongings, and packages from small businesses. However, the company noted that some users continue to attempt sending items that violate the platform’s delivery policies, creating potential safety and operational risks.

Bolt clarified that packages valued above ₦50,000 should not be sent through the platform, as deliveries are insured only up to that amount. The company also prohibits the transportation of illegal substances, weapons, narcotics, toxic materials, flammable products, highly fragile goods, and perishable items that may deteriorate during transit.

To improve delivery efficiency, customers are advised to properly package and seal parcels before requesting a courier, ensure items do not exceed the maximum weight limit of 25 kilograms, and provide accurate pickup and destination information.

The company emphasised that users share responsibility for ensuring that items submitted for delivery comply with Bolt Send’s terms and conditions.

Commenting on the guidelines, Teddy Appah-Dankyi said most deliveries on the platform are completed successfully and that adherence to the rules helps maintain a safe and reliable experience for customers, recipients, and courier partners.

Bolt also warned that misuse of the service could lead to sanctions, including account restrictions, removal from the platform, or referral to relevant authorities where violations involve prohibited or unlawful items.

The company encouraged customers to review the service guidelines carefully and seek clarification from customer support whenever they are uncertain about whether an item qualifies for delivery through Bolt Send.
