Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Spheres Tour’ Breaks Record as First Rock Tour to Gross Over $1 Billion
Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres Tour has made history, becoming the first rock music tour to gross over $1 billion globally. The British band has now surpassed the previous record held by Sir Elton John’s five-year farewell tour, establishing their tour as the highest-grossing rock tour ever recorded.
According to Billboard, Coldplay’s tour is also the first music tour to officially report a worldwide gross exceeding $1 billion, marking a significant milestone in the live music industry. This achievement follows American singer Taylor Swift’s Eras tour, which last year became the first music tour to surpass the billion-dollar revenue mark.
Notably, Nigerian artists Ayra Starr and Burna Boy made special guest appearances during the Italy and Dublin stops of Coldplay’s tour, adding an international flavor to the record-breaking event.
