Dangote Retains Title as Africa’s Most Admired Brand for Eighth Straight Year

Dangote Industries Limited has once again been recognised as Africa’s Most Admired African Brand, extending its dominance in the category to eight consecutive years.

The recognition was announced during the 16th edition of the Brand Africa 100: Africa’s Best Brands rankings held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The annual survey, regarded as one of the continent’s most extensive consumer perception studies, covered 30 African countries representing more than 85 percent of Africa’s population and economic activity.

According to the latest rankings, Dangote secured the top spot in the aided brand recall category, outperforming leading African brands such as MTN Group and Vodacom. In spontaneous brand recall, the company ranked second among African brands, trailing MTN while placing ahead of Trade Kings.

The conglomerate also maintained its position as Africa’s leading industrial brand and emerged as the highest-ranked African company contributing positively to the continent’s development. The recognition reflects the group’s extensive investments across sectors including cement manufacturing, fertiliser production, petrochemicals, energy, sugar, salt, packaging and logistics.

Brand Africa noted that African-owned brands continue to face strong competition from international companies. Despite a slight improvement in local brand recognition, African brands accounted for only 15 percent of the Top 100 rankings, highlighting the continued influence of foreign brands across the continent.

Speaking on the significance of supporting indigenous enterprises, Brand Africa founder Thebe Ikalafeng stressed the importance of turning positive sentiment toward Africa into stronger support for African-made products and services.

The survey also ranked Dangote among the continent’s top-performing brands in sustainability and social impact, placing it second among companies recognised for making meaningful contributions to society and environmental development.

Alongside the corporate recognition, the company’s Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, earned a place on the inaugural Africa CMO 100 list. The initiative celebrates marketing and communications leaders whose work has significantly influenced brand growth, reputation management and business development across Africa.

Chiejina was one of a select group of executives recognised from West Africa and among the Nigerian professionals acknowledged for excellence in strategic communications and brand leadership.

The latest honours further strengthen Dangote’s reputation as one of Africa’s most influential homegrown enterprises. Last year, the company was inducted into the Brand Africa Hall of Fame for its sustained performance in the rankings, while its founder, Aliko Dangote, received a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contributions to industrialisation and economic development across the continent.
