Davido Tipped to Bag Grammy Nomination With “Fem”
Nigerian heavyweight singer, Davido, has been on the receiving end of support from Nigerians who have tipped him to be nominated for a new category in the Grammy Awards.
The Recording Academy had earlier confirmed that plans are currently being considered to create a category for Afrobeat at the Grammy awards. It was also revealed that a new category known as “Best Song for Social Change” will be introduced.
According to the academy, the category was proposed by their voting members to recognize creators of message-driven music that responds to the social issues of our time and has the potential for positive global impact.
Following this new development, a sizable number of music fans are tipping and rallying support for the DMW frontline act and owner to be nominated for the category due to the impact his Afrofusion tune “Fem” had during the #ENDSARS Portest youth movement in Nigeria.

We'll never forget what FEM by Davido did for us during the #EndSARS protest.
It wasn't the reason he sang it, but when we listened to the lyrics during the protest, it further spurred us.
I've done what I feel is right. This ain't about stanship. pic.twitter.com/Ap4ScQhYy1

“FEM” by Davido wasn’t just an ordinary song but a song used in fighting against brutality during the 2020 #Endsars in Nigeria for people both home and Abroad. @RecordingAcad @davido @davido_global pic.twitter.com/udcFEDLw2a
