DJ Cuppy Praises Nigerian Stars Rema, Asake, Ruger, and Shallipopi for Wireless Festival Debut
Popular DJ and musician Florence Otedola, known as DJ Cuppy, has expressed her pride in Nigerian afrobeats stars Asake, Rema, Ruger, and Shallipopi following their debut performances at the UK’s Wireless Festival.
The Nigerian Afrobeats quartet captivated audiences during various dates of the 2024 Wireless Festival in London. DJ Cuppy, who also performed at the festival, took to social media to congratulate and commend the artists for their impressive shows.
On her X handle, she wrote: “I have to hail all my brothers o! Congrats to @asakemusik, @heisrema, @shallipopi_, and @rugerofficial for their stellar performances at #WirelessFestival. Proud to see our Naij boys shining on the global stage. Carry last for wherrrreeee?!”
This praise comes on the heels of other Nigerian artists making waves internationally. Recently, Ayra Starr and Burna Boy made history as the first African performers on the main stage of the UK’s renowned Glastonbury Festival. Additionally, British band Coldplay brought out legendary Nigerian afrobeat musician Femi Kuti during their Glastonbury set.
