DOGE: Elon Musk Told to Leave Trump Govt, Focus on Tesla

Dan Ives, Global Head of Technology Research at Wedbush Securities, has urged Elon Musk to step away from his role in the Trump administration and recommit to leading Tesla full-time.

In a post shared on X, Ives emphasized the need for Musk to shift his attention back to Tesla, especially following the company’s first-quarter earnings report released on Tuesday. While praising Tesla and Nvidia as “two of the most disruptive technology companies on the globe,” Ives cautioned that Musk’s focus appears to be drifting.

“Musk needs to leave the government, take a step back from DOGE, and get back to being CEO of Tesla full-time,” Ives wrote, referencing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a cost-cutting initiative Musk is currently leading under President Donald Trump’s administration.

Musk’s role in DOGE has sparked concern among Tesla investors, many of whom believe the billionaire’s growing involvement in politics is impacting his leadership at the electric car company. Reports suggest shareholders are increasingly frustrated, particularly as Tesla faces mounting challenges in key markets like the United States and China.

Earlier this month, Tesla halted new orders for its Model S and Model X vehicles on its Chinese website – a move that coincides with rising competition from local manufacturers such as BYD, which continues to post strong growth.

With investor pressure building, Ives noted that Tuesday’s earnings call could be a pivotal moment for Musk to reassure stakeholders of his commitment to Tesla’s future.
