Elon Musk Again Loses His Place as World’s Richest Man

Tesla founder Elon Musk regained his title as the world’s richest person on Monday. This was reported by Bloomberg. In December 2022 he was dethroned by Louis Vuitton CEO Bernard Arnault, but the rise in value of Tesla shares brought him back to the top of the rankings.

As reported on MARCA, Musk’s net worth rose to 187 billion dollars, which was a sharp contrast to the start of the year. At the beginning of 2023, the Twitter owner had a net worth of 137 billion dollars at the start of the year, largely thanks to Tesla’s 70 percent rise in value.

However, this triumph was to be short lived for Musk as his lead at the top only lasted a day, as Tesla’s shares fell again and with them his place in the rankings.

Elon Musk, Overtaken Again on the List of the Richest People

The tech tycoon again lost his title of ‘richest man in the world’ just 48 hours after claiming the crown, falling to second place. By the close of trading on Wednesday, Musk’s net worth had dropped from 191 billion dollars on the day to 184 billion. That puts him below the 186-billion-dollar fortune of French luxury tycoon Bernard Arnault (Louis Vuitton), according to Bloomberg’s billionaires index.

Musk, who spent much of 2022 at the top of the global wealth list, was overtaken by Arnault in December, but regained the title last Monday as Tesla shares recovered from last year’s massive sell-off. However, they were back down 1.7 per cent by the end of Wednesday’s session and another 6 per cent on Thursday morning.
