Eniola Badmus Faces Backlash Over Continued Support for President Tinubu

Nollywood actress and political aide Eniola Badmus has reaffirmed her unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite the economic struggles currently faced by many Nigerians.

Badmus, who played an active role in Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign, took to Instagram to restate her stance, writing: “[I am] still standing on Daddy Seyi [Tinubu]’s mandate.”

Her post quickly sparked a wave of reactions, with many social media users criticizing her for what they perceived as insensitivity to the financial difficulties affecting millions across the country.

One Instagram user, @Olori_Nini, expressed disappointment, saying: “This is really not the right time to post this. It sounds very insensitive. People are struggling—hungry and frustrated because the economy is tough. If people react negatively, it’s understandable, and honestly, you would have brought it upon yourself. You can be loyal to your candidate without posting it here.”

Others accused her of prioritizing personal interests over the suffering of the masses. @Oliver_Of_Lagos wrote: “Anywhere belle face. Celebrity isonu. Nothing lasts forever. The internet is a memory storage device.”

Some, however, defended her right to stand by her political choice. @Alh_Alubarika argued: “I don’t understand why people are attacking her. Everyone has their own choices. Moreover, that’s where she earns her daily bread. If me and you had the same opportunity she has, we would probably do more than her.”

As economic frustrations continue to mount across Nigeria, public figures like Badmus are increasingly finding themselves at the center of debates on political loyalty and the realities of governance.
