Fat Joe and Young Thug

Fat Joe Defends Young Thug, Admitting to Lies in 95% of His Songs

In a recent CNN appearance with Gayle King, Fat Joe has come to the defence of Young Thug, asserting that he has lied in “95 per cent” of the songs he has released throughout his three-decade-long career.

Expressing concern over Thug’s YSL RICO case, Joe deemed it “horrible” and a “travesty” that the rapper’s lyrics could be used against him in court. He revealed that, like many artists, he often fabricates stories in his songs, emphasizing the creative and fictional nature of his lyrics.

“I’ve lied in almost 95 per cent of my songs. I’m being honest. I write like I feel that day. I’m just being creative. You couldn’t build a jail high enough for the lyrics I’ve said on songs which are all untrue,” Joe stated.

He went on to criticize the legal system, stating that district attorneys are aware that these lyrics are not real but would exploit them if it helps their case. Joe highlighted the serious consequences, stating, “This is very serious. This destroys families.”

Moreover, Fat Joe raised concerns about the YSL RICO case setting a dangerous precedent, as Young Thug is the first artist of his stature to have his own lyrics used against him in court. He emphasized that the case has broader implications for artists’ First Amendment rights.

“This case right here is setting such a precedence in America because they’ve used this before in up-and-coming, aspiring artists — they’ve never took a guy off the stage in the arena,” Joe warned.

In November, details emerged regarding lyrics that could be used against Young Thug in the trial, and the case officially commenced on Monday after numerous delays. The trial is expected to last at least six months, and Young Thug faces life in prison if convicted on all charges.
