Flutterwave Named Among TIME’s 2025 Most Influential Companies

Nigerian-born fintech giant Flutterwave has earned a spot on the 2025 TIME100 Most Influential Companies list, marking its second appearance on the prestigious global ranking.

The Lagos-founded payment technology firm joins industry heavyweights including Amazon, Netflix, OpenAI, and Universal Music Group in the TITANS category – a segment reserved for companies making bold, transformative moves on the global stage.

First recognised by TIME in 2021, Flutterwave returns to the spotlight for its continued impact on financial innovation across Africa and its growing global reach. The TIME100 list, now in its fifth year, is curated through nominations from industry experts and TIME’s global network, with companies evaluated based on impact, innovation, ambition, and success.

Flutterwave’s inclusion reflects its evolution from a payment infrastructure startup into a global fintech powerhouse. Over the past year, the company has expanded operations to more than 34 African countries and entered new territories including Bahrain, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia – powering payments for international partners such as a major ride-hailing firm.

Commenting on the recognition, Flutterwave CEO and founder Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola said:
“Being recognized by TIME once again is a true honor. We’ve gone from building infrastructure to enabling global-scale solutions. Flutterwave today isn’t just powering payments; we’re shaping Africa’s financial future and connecting the continent to the world.”

Among its recent milestones, Flutterwave’s Send App – a cross-border remittance product – has expanded rapidly in the US, UK, and EU, and now holds 34 licenses across the United States. The product offers faster, cost-effective money transfers for Africans abroad sending funds to loved ones back home.

In 2024, nearly half of Flutterwave’s customers received payments from new markets, further highlighting the company’s growing influence in digital commerce, remittances, travel, payroll, and hospitality.

This latest TIME accolade comes on the heels of other major achievements, including being named Fast Company’s Most Innovative Company in EMEA (2024) and making FXC Intelligence’s Top 100 Cross-Border Payment Companies list for the second year running.

With a strengthened executive team and a new profitability-focused growth strategy, Flutterwave continues to position itself as a cornerstone of Africa’s digital economy and a key player in the global fintech space.
