Future Reflects on Regret Over Past Relationships

American rapper Future has said his biggest personal regret is failing to treat women better in his earlier relationships, describing the admission as part of a broader effort at self-reflection.

The Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Nayvadius DeMun Cash, made the comments during a recent interview with Hot 97 FM, where he spoke candidly about his upbringing and how it shaped his approach to love and relationships.

Future, who has nine children with different partners, said he lacked a positive male role model while growing up and did not witness examples of healthy romantic relationships at home. According to him, this absence influenced how he navigated relationships as an adult.

He told the station that he never saw his mother receive affection from a partner and that his early experiences left him without guidance on how to love properly. As a result, he said many of his past relationships became learning experiences rather than healthy partnerships.

The rapper stressed that he was not blaming his childhood for mistakes he made as an adult, noting that personal responsibility remained important. Instead, he said he was focused on acknowledging those mistakes and growing from them.

Future added that he is now more intentional about learning from his past and making better choices moving forward, both personally and emotionally.
