Games of Thrones’ Star Emilia Clarke Reveals: Part of My Brain is Missing, It’s Remarkable I’m Able to Speak

English actress, Emilia Clarke, known for her stage craft has revealed details about the aneurysms that she experienced whilst filming the popular ‘Game of Thrones’ movie.

The 35-year-old confirmed that she suffered two brain aneurysms in the past. One was in 2011 and the other was in 2013.

A brain aneurysm can be fatal as it is a bulge in a blood vessel. They’re caused by a weakness in the blood vessel wall, often where it branches.

Clarke is willing to talk about how the events affected her going forward, most recently doing so while on the BBC One show ‘Sunday Morning.’

“The amount of my brain that is no longer usable, it’s remarkable that I am able to speak, sometimes articulately, and live my life completely normally with absolutely no repercussions,” Clarke said.

“I am in the really, really, really small minority of people that can survive that.

“There’s quite a bit [of brain] missing! Which always makes me laugh.

“Because strokes, basically, as soon as any part of your brain doesn’t get blood for a second, it’s gone.

“The blood finds a different route to get around, but then whatever bit it’s missing is therefore gone.”

After the aneurysms, Clarke suffered from aphasia, at one point being unable to recall her own name.

Thankfully for the actor, with her memory not being affected in the long term, she has been able to have a highly successful career in an industry where your memory is key.
