Honda announces a new line of electric cars, Honda 0

Honda Unveils Vision for Electric Future with Honda 0 Series Concept Cars at CES 2024

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Honda made a significant stride into the electric vehicle (EV) market by introducing its latest concept cars, the Honda 0 Series. These prototypes provide an early glimpse into Honda’s upcoming line of electric vehicles, with the first model slated for production in 2026.

As part of Honda’s ambitious shift toward electric mobility, the 0 Series will showcase a new “H” logo, symbolizing the automaker’s commitment to advancing EV technology. Last year, Honda pledged a $40 billion investment to develop new electric vehicles, with a goal of introducing 30 EV models globally by 2030. Additionally, the company aims to exclusively offer zero-emission vehicles in major markets by 2040.

Despite Honda’s recent strides in electrification, the automaker currently trails behind competitors in fully electric vehicle sales, particularly in the United States. While Honda is gearing up to release the Prologue, an electric SUV developed in collaboration with General Motors, later this year, rivals such as Hyundai, Kia, Ford, and GM already boast multiple electric models on the market.

The Honda 0 Series comprises two concept vehicles – the Saloon and the Space-Hub. The Saloon, reminiscent of a hatchback, represents the inaugural Series 0 model set to hit North American markets around 2026. On the other hand, the Space-Hub features a taller, van-like design with a spacious and flexible interior capable of accommodating various passenger configurations. However, Honda has not specified whether or when the Space-Hub might become available for purchase.

Accompanying the 0 Series debut is the unveiling of a revamped Honda “H” logo. The simplified design ditches the enclosing box from the current logo, maintaining the iconic vertical arms extending outward toward the top. This new logo is slated to adorn all future models within the Honda 0 Series lineup, marking a visual representation of Honda’s electric evolution.
