I can Have Flings with Women with High Body Counts But Not Marriage – Ghanaian Singer, Kidi

Ghanaian singer Kidi has drawn sharp criticism and stirred a heated online debate following comments he made about women’s sexual history during a recent podcast appearance.

The Cheat On You hitmaker appeared on the popular Gen Z-focused show Rants, Bants and Confessions, where he was asked whether a woman’s body count matters in a relationship. His response has since gone viral and divided public opinion.

“If we’re just having fun, I don’t care,” Kidi stated. “But if it’s someone I’m going to call mine, then yes, it matters.” He went on to explain that he would feel uncomfortable being in a serious relationship with a woman who had been intimate with many men.

“I don’t want to walk into a room and feel like everyone there has a history with the woman I’m with,” he said. “I want someone who hasn’t shared herself emotionally and physically with too many people.”

Kidi elaborated further, suggesting that with every failed relationship, individuals give away a part of themselves. “By the time I meet you, after 50 men, you’ve shed 50 parts of yourself. What’s left for me?” he questioned.

His remarks have sparked a firestorm on social media, with many accusing the singer of promoting double standards and reinforcing harmful stereotypes about women’s sexuality. Others, however, have defended his views, arguing that everyone has a right to personal preferences in relationships.

As of now, Kidi has not issued any further clarification or response to the backlash.
