In a recorded video message, Derulo expressed his stand against all forms of harassment and reiterated his support for anyone pursuing their dreams. He also emphasized his commitment to living his life in a positively impactful way.
In his video message, Derulo stated, “I wouldn’t normally comment but these claims are completely false and hurtful. I stand against all forms of harassment, and I remain supportive of anybody following their dreams. I’ve always strived to live my life in a positively impactful way, and that’s why I sit here before you deeply offended by these defamatory claims. God bless.”
NBC News reported that Emaza Gibson filed the sexual harassment lawsuit against Jason Derulo on Thursday, where she made various allegations. Gibson’s lawsuit seeks compensation for unpaid wages, loss of earnings, deferred compensation, and other employment benefits, as well as damages for emotional distress. However, the exact amount of the lawsuit is not yet specified.
Among the allegations, Gibson claims quid pro quo sexual harassment, asserting that she was promised a record deal in exchange for sexual favors, which Derulo allegedly reneged on when she rejected his advances. Additionally, Gibson alleged that Derulo attempted to influence her by offering cocaine and alcohol. She also claimed that he insisted on a goat sacrifice before engaging in sexual activity as a form of intimidation.
Emaza Gibson’s attorney, Ron Zambrano, stated, “[Jason Derulo] not only broke promises and breached contracts, but his threats of physical harm and unconscionable sexual advances toward this young woman who is just trying to break into the industry were outrageous and illegal.”
Gibson expressed her dismay, asking why someone would engage in such behavior, emphasizing her lifelong dream of pursuing a career in the music industry, and her belief that compromising one’s morals is unnecessary to achieve success.
