Nigerian Afrobeats star Joeboy has officially released his third studio album, Viva Lavida, marking a new phase in his career. The 13-track project, launched under his Young Legend imprint in partnership with Warner Music Africa, arrives after weeks of anticipation, with fans eager to experience the full body of work.
The album, which translates to “Live Life,” blends themes of heartbreak, self-discovery, and resilience, staying true to Joeboy’s signature storytelling style. Having teased listeners with pre-released singles like Osadebe, Adenuga, SMH, and Taxi Driver, he now delivers a complete narrative that captures both emotional depth and infectious melodies.
An Emotionally Charged Soundscape
Joeboy sets the tone for Viva Lavida with tracks like Innocent, Streets Are Lonely, Taxi Driver, and SMH, which explore themes of love, betrayal, and longing. On Taxi Driver, co-produced by Xtofa and Tempoe, he sings about romantic disillusionment, while SMH samples Tamil influences in a fusion of Afropop and heartbreak melodies.
Despite its melancholic undertones, the album also embraces joy and self-acceptance. Osadebe, inspired by the legendary Chief Osita Osadebe, celebrates living on one’s own terms, while Sinner and Hey Father offer moments of introspection and hope.
