Is Keanu Reeves the Only Man In Hollywood to be Applauded for Turning Down an Iconic Sequel Worth $12 Million in Salary?

In 1994, the movie, Speed was a smash hit at the box office where it raked in $350 million. In the movie, Hollywood actor, Keanu Reeves struck gold and was cast alongside Sandra Bullock.

Based on the overwhelming success of the first ‘Speed’ movie, fans had anticipated a sequel that would get a nod of approval from bot Reeves and Bullock.

However, despite a exciting offer that he received, Keanu Reeves still decided to turn the project down.

As expected, this prompted questions as to why the actor turned down a $12 million role, which remained unanswered for a long spell.

However, Keanu Reeves has eventually come out to reveal that he turned down the role for ‘Speed 2’ because he did not like the script. He admitted that he enjoyed working with Bullock ut added that the script just didn’t pop off the page.

“At the time, I just didn’t respond to the script,” Reeves revealed. “I really wanted to work with Sandra Bullock, and I really loved playing Jack Traven.”

“It wasn’t against any of the artists that were involved in the project, but at that time — I’m sure we’ve all had this kind of feeling sometimes when things just don’t feel right, and that was how I was feeling,” Reeves said.

“I loved ‘Speed,’ but… now it’s on an ocean liner?”

Despite a near $160 million put into the sequel. The aggressive move did not pay off, and the action sequel only made $164 million, a fraction of the first film. Watch the clip below.
