Nick Cannon Recalls Blowing Through $200K Gifted To Him By Will Smith: ‘I Thought I Had Made It’
American television host, rapper, actor, and comedian, Nick Cannon recently shared details of how the extravagant part of his personality led him into blowing his way through a hefty cheque of $200,000 that he once received from Hollywood actor and producer, Will Smith.
Cannon who didn’t sound particularly proud of the experience confessed that he ended up going broke even after Will Smith had been generous enough to give him a cheque of $200,000 as well as good financial advice.
“Will found me at like 17, and by the time I was 18, the check came in, and at the time, I remember Will had a red Range Rover. And I was like ‘I want a black one,’” Cannon revealed during an appearance on Angela Yee’s “Money Pie” series. “And he’s the biggest movie star in the world, and this is ’98, end of ’98.”
Despite being warned by Will Smith against the realities of buying a luxury car, Cannon turned deaf ears to him and decided to make take a risk by following his desires in line with his celebrity status.
“Not even a year [later]- I totaled that car and lost it and was living back at my mom’s house … my mom’s was living in that condo back in San Diego a year later, thinking where I thought I had made it, and was rich, and was gonna be set for life.”
