“Nigeria Is at War, People Just Don’t Know It Yet” – OAP N6 Reacts to Benue Massacre
Nigerian on-air personality and rapper, Nnamdi Nwabasili, popularly known as N6, has expressed concern over the worsening insecurity across the country, declaring that “Nigeria is at war” even though many citizens remain unaware.
His comments come in the wake of the recent attack in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, where over 200 people were reportedly killed in one of the deadliest assaults by suspected armed herdsmen. The incident has sparked nationwide outrage and renewed calls for urgent government intervention.
In a video shared on his official TikTok page, N6 lamented the frequency and scale of violence in rural communities, arguing that the ongoing attacks across parts of the country constitute a full-blown conflict.
“Let me tell you something, whether you want to accept it or not – Nigeria is at war. Nigerians just don’t know it yet,” he said.
He explained that unlike the conventional image of war involving head-to-head battles, the situation in Nigeria is marked by silent, widespread assaults on villages and local communities.
“The war has been ongoing since around 2016 or 2017. The only reason people in Lagos, Abuja, and other major cities think we’re not at war is because it hasn’t reached them yet. But ask the people living in the rural areas,” he added.
N6’s remarks reflect a growing sense of frustration among Nigerians over what many see as a lack of effective government response to rising insecurity, particularly in the Middle Belt and northern regions of the country.
As of press time, authorities continue to investigate the Benue killings, while civil society groups have called for justice and improved protection for vulnerable communities.
