British-Nigerian actress Laura Lake Adebisi has expressed strong views about Nigeria, stating that the country should never have existed due to its deep ideological divisions.
In a viral video, Adebisi highlighted the stark differences between Nigeria’s northern and southern regions as a primary reason for her stance. She also accused the British government of empowering Nigeria’s leadership to suppress the Biafra secession movement in order to exploit the nation’s resources.
“The footprints of colonialism are over Nigeria. Nigeria should have never been a country! The difference in ideology from the northern side to the southern side is insane,” Adebisi remarked.
She further argued that Britain played a role in preventing Biafra’s independence, stating, “When the Eastern side tried to secede and form Biafra, the ex-colonialists were like, no, we don’t want that. So they empowered Nigeria to crush that country.”
Adebisi’s comments have sparked discussions online about Nigeria’s colonial past and its ongoing effects on the country’s structure and governance.
