‘Not Getting 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show Broke Me’ – Lil Wayne
American rapper Lil Wayne has opened up about the emotional toll of not being selected as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show. In a viral video message on Friday, the New Orleans native expressed his heartbreak, calling the missed opportunity a significant personal setback.
Lil Wayne shared that he had hoped to headline the prestigious event, particularly because it was set to take place in his hometown. “I thought there was nothing better than that stage in my city… It broke me, and I’m just trying to put myself back together,” he said.
The decision to choose Kendrick Lamar as the 2025 Super Bowl performer, made by Jay-Z, has sparked criticism from some fans and even fellow rapper Nicki Minaj, who publicly voiced her disappointment. However, Lil Wayne did not place the blame on others, stating that he holds himself accountable for not being mentally prepared for such a letdown.
He described the Super Bowl halftime show as the ultimate honour and admitted that not securing the slot “hurt a lot.”
Despite the setback, Wayne remains focused on moving past the disappointment as he continues to engage with fans and work on his music.
