Researcher Uses a $25 Device to Hack Into Elon Musk’s Starlink System

During the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas, a cyber-security researcher from Belgium, Lennert Wouters managed to hack Elon Musk’s Starlink internet system for the first time ever by using just a $25 dollar device he made at home.

Starlink operates using user terminals or satellite dishes located at homes and businesses, and this hacking revealed that it could be breached.

With his home-made circuit board or modchip, Wuoters got access through a voltage fault injection attack on a Starlink User Terminal. This allowed the hacker to gain access to the Starlink disc and explore the company’s network.

It should be recalled that Starlink has launched more than 3,000 small satellites into space to provide internet service at remote locations.

During Russia’s invasion to Ukraine, Musk provided internet service via Starlink, and constantly acknowledged that Russia was trying very hard to jam up their signal and service, but hadn’t had success doing it.
