Singer Dotman Expresses Regret Over Relocating to the U.S.

Nigerian singer and rapper Oladotun Alade, popularly known as Dotman, has opened up about his emotional struggles since relocating from Nigeria to the United States, revealing that he now regrets the decision.

In a candid message shared via his Instagram page, the Star Life crooner said the move has taken a heavy toll on his personal life. He disclosed that he has not seen his children in nearly two years, and described the experience as a painful one he has endured quietly.

“Today, I regret ever deciding to leave Nigeria and move to the U.S. I have been struggling so much in silence. I haven’t seen my kids for about two years now,” he wrote.

Dotman’s post adds to a growing conversation about the reality behind celebrity relocations. While many Nigerian entertainers have moved abroad in search of better opportunities, not all have found it easy to adjust or maintain the same level of success.

Over the past decade, several notable figures – including Asake, Eldee, Dr. Sid, Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Rita Dominic, Uche Jombo, and Emeka Ike – have relocated from Nigeria, with varying experiences.

Dotman’s reflection highlights a more personal cost to the decision and has sparked conversations online about the often unseen challenges of life abroad, even for public figures.
