South Korean Actress Kim Sae-ron Found Dead in Seoul

South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron has been found dead at the age of 24 in her apartment in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong district, authorities confirmed on Sunday.

According to police reports, a friend discovered her body around 4:55 PM (07:55 GMT). Investigators stated that no signs of foul play were detected, though an inquiry into the cause of death is ongoing.

Kim, who began her acting career as a child, was considered one of South Korea’s most promising talents. She gained international recognition for her role in A Brand New Life (2009), which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. She later starred in several acclaimed films, including The Man from Nowhere (2010), South Korea’s highest-grossing film that year, and The Neighbour (2012), which earned her award recognition.

Her other notable works include the 2014 film A Girl at My Door and the 2016 drama Mirror of the Witch.

Kim had largely stepped away from public life after a 2022 drunk driving incident, for which she was fined 20 million won (£11,000) in April 2023. Her most recent role was in Netflix’s 2023 drama Bloodhounds, though reports indicated that much of her screen time was edited due to the controversy.

Authorities have yet to release further details regarding the circumstances of her death.
