‘Streamers Make More Money Than Artistes’ – DDG Says

American rapper and online content creator Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., widely known as DDG, has said that streaming is more financially rewarding than a career in music.

The 28-year-old made the claim during a recent livestream conversation with Nigerian streamer Carterefe, where he spoke about his experiences working in both industries.

According to DDG, earnings from online streaming now surpass what many musicians make from their music careers.

“Streaming pays more than music. Streamers actually make more money than artistes,” he said during the session.

DDG, who began his journey as a content creator in 2014, built a strong following on YouTube before venturing fully into music. His transition into the music industry started professionally in 2016, and he gained widespread recognition a year later with the release of his hit single Givenchy, which featured on his debut EP, Take Me Serious.

At the height of his growing online influence, DDG dropped out of Central Michigan University to focus on building his YouTube career, a decision that later expanded into both music and streaming success.

His comments have reignited conversations around the changing dynamics of entertainment earnings, as digital content creation continues to rival traditional music revenue streams.
