Take-Two Confirms Grand Theft Auto VI for Fall 2025, Dismissing Delay Rumours
In a much-anticipated announcement, Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) remains on track for a fall 2025 release, ending speculation that the highly awaited game could face delays into 2026. However, there’s still no confirmation regarding a PC version.
The release date confirmation was part of Take-Two’s latest earnings report, which lists GTA VI as set to debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles next fall. This timeline aligns with past Rockstar Games releases; for instance, it took around 18 months after its console debut for GTA V to arrive on Windows, suggesting PC gamers may experience a similar wait for GTA VI.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting the sequel, with GTA VI’s official trailer, released in December 2023, setting records by amassing over 90 million views within its first 24 hours on YouTube, earning it a Guinness World Record. As of now, the trailer has gathered over 217 million views.
The long wait for GTA VI reflects Rockstar’s high standards, as GTA V’s success has afforded them the luxury to take time developing its sequel. Since its 2013 release, GTA V has sold over 205 million copies and generated $8.5 billion in revenue worldwide, making it one of the most profitable entertainment products of all time.
Take-Two also updated fans on other upcoming releases, confirming Sid Meier’s Civilization VII for February 11, 2025, and WWE 2K25 for fiscal Q4 2025. Meanwhile, Borderlands 4 and Mafia: The Old Country are set for fiscal 2026, while CSR Racing 3 and Judas have yet to receive specific launch dates.
