Tems Hints at Launching Women’s Football Team

Nigerian singer Tems has expressed her intentions to establish a women’s football team, sharing her passion for sports on her YouTube podcast.

The Grammy award-winning artist discussed her love for sports and the inspiration behind her idea. “I love sports. I love sports, but if I could play football, I would. I’m like a football fan,” she said.

She elaborated on her plans, saying, “I want to start a female football team. I think it is something that is needed. Like, why can’t we just have something like a local tournament with the girls? I feel like it would be fun.”

Tems also highlighted the potential benefits of such an initiative, suggesting that regional competitions could significantly support the Nigerian women’s league.

Tems gained widespread recognition in 2020 with the hit song ‘Essence,’ a collaboration with Wizkid. The track’s remix, featuring Justin Bieber, earned her a Grammy nomination, further solidifying her place in the music industry.
