Tesla Builds its First Cybertruck Four Years After Unveiling Prototype

Tesla has finally completed the construction of its first Cybertruck, according to a tweet posted by the electric car company on Saturday. The long-awaited Cybertruck was built at Tesla’s Gigafactory near Austin, Texas, as depicted in the image shared in the tweet, showing workers wearing hard hats surrounding the sleek vehicle.

The prototype for the futuristic Cybertruck was initially revealed by Tesla in 2019, with production expected to commence in late 2021. The striking design of the prototype resembled a large metal trapezoid on wheels, featuring exteriors made from a stainless steel alloy. However, during a demonstration in 2019, the truck’s supposedly unbreakable windows failed when a metal ball thrown at them caused them to shatter.

Tesla has been relatively quiet about its plans for the highly anticipated vehicle. In 2021, the company announced that an updated version of the Cybertruck was in the works. CEO Elon Musk explained that supply chain issues had delayed the debut of long-promised new vehicles, including the Cybertruck.

However, in January of this year, Tesla confirmed that production of the Cybertruck would begin later in 2023. The company previously stated that volume production of the vehicle is expected to start in 2024.

The introduction of the Cybertruck allows Tesla to enter the competitive electric pickup market, which includes rivals such as Rivian’s R1T, the Ford F-150 Lightning, and the GMC Hummer EV pickup. As Tesla’s first foray into this lucrative market segment, the Cybertruck is anticipated to generate significant interest among consumers and enthusiasts alike.
