‘The Lifespan of Skit Makers Short’ – Comedian IGoSave

Popular Nigerian comedian, Igosave, has shared his views on the transient nature of skit makers’ fame compared to stand-up comedians in the entertainment industry.

During his appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, hosted by actor Nedu, Igosave emphasized that skit makers often experience a quick surge of popularity, akin to a volcanic eruption. However, he believes that their fame is short-lived, in contrast to stand-up comedians who tend to have longer careers in the industry.

In response to a question about whether skitmaking is overshadowing stand-up comedy, Igosave explained, “Skitmaking, once they start, it erupts like a volcano. But in my opinion, the lifespan is short. Yeah, a skit maker can come and make waves everywhere, but before you know it, their momentum cools down. However, comedians continue to thrive for years, continuously entertaining audiences.”

The comic star also pointed out that there have been numerous skit makers who gained popularity but quickly faded from the limelight, lasting no more than a few minutes in the industry.

Igosave’s insights shed light on the dynamics of the Nigerian entertainment scene, where skit makers have seen a surge in popularity through online platforms but may face challenges in maintaining long-term relevance compared to their stand-up comedy counterparts.
