TikTok Pulls Huda Beauty CEO’s Video Over Anti-Israel Conspiracy Claims
TikTok has taken down a video posted by beauty mogul Huda Kattan, founder of the global cosmetics brand Huda Beauty, after she made a series of conspiracy-laden claims about Israel.
In the video, shared with her 1.7 million TikTok followers on Sunday, Kattan alleged that Israel was behind “every world war,” including the First and Second World Wars, as well as the September 11 attacks in the US and Hamas’s October 7 assault on Israel.
TikTok confirmed on Tuesday that the video had been removed for violating its community guidelines but did not elaborate further. Kattan and her company have not publicly responded.
The American Jewish Committee condemned the remarks, accusing Kattan of “using her massive platform to spread vile antisemitic conspiracy theories.” The Anti-Defamation League also called the comments “dangerous and historically baseless,” warning that such rhetoric perpetuates harmful antisemitic tropes.
Israel was established in 1948—decades after both world wars. Millions of Jews were murdered during the Holocaust in World War II, making Kattan’s claims particularly offensive to Jewish advocacy groups.
Kattan, who appeared on the BBC 100 Women list in 2023 and was ranked 15th on Forbes’ richest online creators list, has built Huda Beauty’s 57 million-strong Instagram following into one of the most influential brands in the beauty industry.
TikTok’s policies ban hate speech, hateful ideologies, and misinformation that can cause harm, including conspiracy theories.
