TikToker Who Accused Eniola Badmus of Prostitution Sentenced to Prison

TikToker Okoye Blessing Nwakego, also known as Ego, who made serious allegations against actress Eniola Badmus, has been sentenced to prison by a Federal High Court in Lagos.

On Wednesday, Justice Nicholas Oweibo handed down a three-year prison sentence to Ego, with an option of paying a fine of N150,000. The sentence came after she pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of cyberstalking.

According to the allegations, Ego and an accomplice named Chimabia, who is currently at large, conspired to commit the offence of cyberstalking between December 2022 and July 2023 in Lagos. The charges were brought under sections 24 (1) (b), (2) (a) (c), and 27 of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015.

The case gained significant attention when Ego posted a viral video on social media in July, accusing Eniola Badmus of facilitating connections between women and Nigerian politicians for purposes of prostitution.

The court’s ruling serves as a reminder of the legal consequences that can arise from making false allegations and engaging in cyberstalking activities. Cybercrimes are taken seriously by the authorities, and offenders can face severe penalties as a result.

As this case reaches its conclusion, it highlights the importance of responsible behaviour on social media and the potential legal ramifications for those who misuse the platform to harm others’ reputations or spread false information.
