Tory Lanez Begins 10-Year Prison Sentence, Closing Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Case

Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has officially commenced his 10-year prison sentence, marking the conclusion of the highly publicized Megan Thee Stallion shooting case. The development was reported by Law & Crime reporter Meghann Cuniff, who has been closely following the case since its inception at the Los Angeles County Courthouse.

Lanez’s journey into incarceration began as he entered his bail motion, accompanied by representatives from Unite The People, who supported his request for bail. Unfortunately for Lanez, his attorney, Jose Baez, renowned for his defense of Casey Anthony, could not appear in court due to prior commitments.

During the hearing, Lanez made a request to Judge Herriford to allow him to reside in the same house as his son. He also mentioned plans to rent a home from an individual who specializes in renting exotic homes and cars, contingent on the judge’s approval.

Regrettably for Lanez, his pleas did not sway the court’s decision. “Tory Lanez is officially headed to prison,” Cuniff reported in her tweet. “The motion will be denied, and proceedings concluded. Thank you,” Judge Herriford announced. Lanez acknowledged his supporters, which included his father and friends from the Unite the People legal services group, before being led away.

This marks the culmination of Lanez’s legal battles in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case. It comes shortly after it was revealed that the rapper had initially rejected a four-year plea deal, opting instead to face trial in California.

VladTV reported in the previous month that prosecutors had offered Tory Lanez a four-year plea deal, according to “sources close to the case.” However, Lanez, who consistently professed his innocence, declined the offer and proceeded with the trial. Unfortunately for him, the trial ended with a guilty verdict on all counts in December, following a two-week court proceeding.

Lanez faced sentencing in August, during which a scathing statement from Megan Thee Stallion, read aloud by District Attorney Kathy Ta, had a significant impact. In her statement, Megan criticized Lanez for spreading false narratives about the shooting incident, which left her with bullet fragments in both feet. She also accused him of making light of her “trauma” in his subsequent music releases, revealing that she had “not experienced a single day of peace” since the incident.
